Bradley M. Fields, DVM, MPH
Director of Emergency Programs
Dr. Bradley Fields
is a Veterinary Medical Officer with the
Alabama Department of Agriculture &
Industries.
He is the Director of Emergency
Programs, and is tasked with the
development and implementation of
agriculture emergency planning and
response, emergency
program
guidance and oversight.
Fields is responsible for the
Homeland Security Grant Program, as well
as funding streams from other agencies.
He is head of the AL State
Agricultural Response Team, and serves
on a variety of emergency preparedness
committees with state and national
stakeholders.
He serves as the primary liaison
between private and public agencies and
the AL Dept of Agriculture for disaster
response and recovery issues.
Dr. Fields was born
& grew up in Upton, a small rural town
in south-central
Kentucky
on the family farm, which grew primarily
burley tobacco and beef cattle.
Dr. Fields received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University’s
College of
Veterinary Medicine, a
Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology
from School of Public Health
at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham,
and received his BS from
Western
Kentucky
University.
Dr. Fields also serves his
country as a Captain in the US Army
Veterinary Reserve Corps, and is adjunct
faculty at the UAB School of Public
Health and
Auburn
University’s College of Veterinary
Medicine.
Ben Mullins
Assistant Director of Emergency
Programs
Mr. Ben Mullins
joined the Alabama Department of
Agriculture and Industries as a
Geographic Information Systems
Specialist in August of 2007. As the
Assistant Director of Emergency Programs, he is tasked
with assisting the Director of Emergency
Programs in every aspect of agriculture
emergency preparedness and response. In
addition, he is tasked with the
development, implementation, and
maintenance of a GIS to supplement
emergency preparedness and response. He
also provides map support to other
departmental sections to promote
efficiency and improve workflow.
A native of
Montgomery, Alabama, Mr. Mullins
graduated in 2006 with a B.A. from
Auburn University Montgomery. He is
trained in Foreign Animal Disease
Response, FEMA's WMD Agricultural
Emergency Response, and the Incident
Command System 100, 200, 300, 400, 700,
and 800. He is
proficient in the ArcGIS software of
ESRI and the GeoMedia software of
Intergraph. He is
adept in the principles of geography,
cartography, and map and air photo
interpretation. Prior to working for
the Alabama Department of Agriculture
and Industries, Mr. Mullins worked for Alabama
Power in
Birmingham, Alabama as part of a GIS team tasked with
maintaining power distribution lines and
mapping weather-related threats.
